Superb, incredibly fine, vivid & clear, detailed & rare panorama of a sector of the Front from approx. Fonquevillers to Pigeon Wood, La Bravelle Farm & beyond, including Gommecourt, with British front line in foreground, German front line identified & numerous other locations identified. A view of Gommecourt Wood &c. as it appeared from the British trenches prior to the attack there on 1st July 1916. These rare surviving panoramas are some of the finest contemp. records of the nature of the Western Front trench lines as seen by the participants in events. Rolled, VG.
