History of the war-raised 48th Bn. AIF. "An engaging book, written in a fluent style. It was compiled in France in 1919 & therefore has the freshness & immediacy lacking in some unit histories. The Bn was formed in March 1916 in Egypt. It comprised a draft from 16th AIF Bn (survivors from Gallipoli) & fresh drafts from Australia. Three months later the newly constituted Bn was in action at Pozieres.. It suffered heavy losses at Bullecourt but went on to serve at Passchendaele & in the defence of Amiens in 1918. Its last action was Bapaume, in Sept. 1918." - Perkins. Roll of Hon., awards. Orig. red cloth, titled in black to front & sp., little rubbed & worn, generally VG & rare.
