From the Diary of Pte. H.W. Cavill, No. 27, 2nd Battalion, 1st Inf. Brigade. Perkins states: "this book is based upon [Cavill's] day-by-day impressions of his early war service (August 1914 to late 1915). He records much interesting detail regarding his initial training in Australia, the sea journey across the Indian Ocean to Egypt, & the fighting in Gallipoli. The illustrations are of very good quality & are well captioned..." The portraits include a number of officers & men of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Battalions who were wounded &/or decorated, & one of the author. Orig. wraps with cartoon onlay, joints internally & neatly repaired, VG thus & rare. See illustrations on our website.
